Clothing Patterns

So recently, I've been noticing a pattern. I put these cute outfits on for school, but at the end of the school day I'm tired and all I really want to do is wear a t-shirt and shorts. Since I am not one to say no to Nikes, I put them on and all is well and comfortable. The problem is, if I ever leave the house, it's usually after school. The last couple of days, I've run errands or gone to lessons not wearing the outfits you see on this here blog...which I find a little strange. (And would also explain why, if you've seen me recently, I haven't been wearing my "blog clothes.") I guess that's a little habit I should get out of. //sigh

I Shall Call Him Timemark

You know how you have annual landmarks (or...timemarks) that remind you, "Oh, it's almost summertime!" or "My birthday's soon!"? Well, for me, one of the timemarks (as I shall now call them) that signals the end (of the year) is nigh is auditions for Miller. If you remember (and/or are friends of ours), way back in April, Lindy and I were in a show at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Well...auditions for this year's show are in two weeks. I just got back from a voice lesson to get ready for said auditions. It's so weird to think that it's almost December! Where's the time gone?

Sweet Oversized Sweaters

Today, I thought i'd pop down to my mom's closet and attempt the "oversized sweater" look. She didn't have too many to choose from, but I found one that was soft, and it had all of my favorite colors! This is definatly the right outfit for a long "homework" day!

School. Ish.

I feel like I'm dressed like a schoolgirl today. It's probably the mix of cardigan/button up/tights/oxfords. Or the fact that I have about 60,000 essays to write. Seriously, that's all school is right now. French and essays. I'm looking forward to next semester, when I'll actually be able to get real school done!

(And I would like to apologixe for my distractingly bad posture in this post. I don't even know what's going on with that.)

The No Sleep Week

I thorougly apoligize for my super pessimistic post on Monday... but It has been a very very long week! With the show coming up this weekend, finals two weeks away, and the most homework i've ever had in my life, I'm swamped. There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done! Anyways...

Yesterday, I went to work. The weather is going to be nice and cool just for a few days, so I decided to take advantage of that! I loveeeeee my light pink lace top. I could wear it every day. Also, like how I used my french beret? When the weather gets colder (if it ever does), that will be a very frequent hair style. I just love hats!

Splash of Color On a Cloudy Sky

It is beautiful and cold and cloudy outside today, which makes me really happy. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love cloudy weather. The fact that it's almost December and therefore has a little wintry feel to it is an added plus.

(Oh dear. Did I just say it was almost December? Egad!)

Technical Difficulties

As you probably noticed, we're having a couple of picture-y problems. It started over Thanksgiving break, so it couldn't be fixed immediately, but we're working on it! (See? We have our background back now!) Hopefully we'll get everything back to normal soon. In the meantime, enjoy.

Pre-Rehearsal Sweatpants

Today, I go back to rehearsal for my show, which will be next weekend! I missed last weekend, because I was in North Carolina, but today, i'm back in the game! This is my pre-dress rehearsal outfit. After working over 40 hours of work this week, I was dying to be comfy. My mom got these sweatpants for me at Elon, and they are the most comfy pants in the world. And thats all I want to do today... be comfy.

Small Business Saturday

I work at a small business in retail, so today we celebrated small business saturday! I've never been more exausted in my life. So instead of doing the "all black" look I went for during Black Friday, I thought i'd do as many colors as possible! I can't type much more... way.... too... tired.

A Weekend in the Country

I'm home again, home again. We got back this afternoon, and I already miss being gone a little bit. This Thanksgiving break was so wonderful. As much as I love living in a big city, there's something so amazing about visiting the country. These last few days were so relaxing and fun - I want to head straight back to the country tomorrow!

Pie Flavored

This year, my family spent Thanksgiving at my uncle's ranch in the gorgeous Texas hill country. These few days away have been so much fun! There are nineteen of us out here (and that's not even my whole family). It's been great getting to spend time with everyone. Thanksgiving was a gloriously gluttonous occasion with all of my favorite foods to go around (oyster and cornbread dressing, buttermilk pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie...all kinds of pie!). Today, we just sat around playing games and I took a quick trip to town to get out of the house. The temperature also dropped by about fifteen or twenty degrees, which was very nice...but sort of messed with my outfit plans.

Also, as you may imagine, being on a ranch with family I don't get to see often renders me pretty internet-less. That would be why I've been posting at 11:00. (Though I didn't post yesterday because I forgot my camera at the main house and so didn't have a picture to upload last night.)

*Black* Friday

Thats right. I work in retail, so today was the crazy day known as Black Friday! Since I work for a small business, tomorrow is going to be even crazier. I decided to go all "literal" today, and wore mostly black on Black Friday. Who knew? We had great sales today! Happy start of Christmas season to you all!

Thanksgiving Traditions!

This year's Thanksgiving is a bit different than usual. Usually, we're sitting around a T.V. watching the Aggies defeat the T-sips (aka, University of Texas, if you aren't an aggie fan), but that obviously isn't happening because my aggies aren't in the Big 12 anymore! The t-sips are played today and lost to TCU (Thank god). Instead, we crowded around the living room to watch the Texans play against the Detroit Lions. We won.... but barely. Unfortunatly, our other "team", the Dallas Cowboys, played and lost.

Can you tell every year at Thanksgiving, all we do/talk about is food and football? It's like a yearly tradition! The world stops to pig out and watch football.

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to you guys! I'm thankful that we have such dedicated followers, and the opprotunity to blog!

Don't Really Care

Good evening, readers! I'm sorry for posting so late. I've had a very busy day. My family left town for Thanksgiving this morning, and I haven't had a chance to get online since. My outfit is pretty standard "in car, don't care" fare.

The Perfect Time Of Day

It gets hard sometimes to blog. Abbie and I are both on very tight schedules, especially at this time of year. I've been at school and work all day, and tomorrow is thanksgiving! Busy is putting my schedule lightly. Anyways, my outfit is pretty standard " cute work" clothes. I thought it was about time I pulled this tunic back out of my closet. :)

Coco-nutty

Over the past couple of months, I've heard a lot about using coconut oil as a conditioner for your hair. Multiple people have reccomended it to me because my hair's so long and thick and tangly. Last night, I decided to try it, and oh my gosh, guys. My hair is so soft! And not super tangly! I haven't stopped touching it all day. I don't know if this has anything to do with the coconut oil, but my hair's also stayed in its braid all day, which is unheard of. So if you hair like mine, or just want really, really soft hair, I definitely reccomend trying it!

Beeeeend and Snap

Okay, so when I was at Catawba on Saturday, I saw their production of Legally Blonde, which I loved. This outfit, for some odd reason, makes me think of the song "Bend and Snap". I know, this sounds crazy. Maybe it's because I think its because this outfits shows off my bootie a bit.... okay, I don't know where this is going. Here is my outfit!

Hue of the Same

Today was a very "sittin' at home, doin' my school" type of day, so my outfit reflects that. I put this t-shirt on to take some pictures for my philosophy semester project. A few minutes later, I got cold, so I put this cardigan on. I love the way the teal and aqua look together, so of course, I had to keep it.

Bringin' Back The Anne Frank

Happy Monday! I'm officially home from North Carolina. My flight got back in town at midnight, and I didn't get home until nearly 1 am.

My outfit today, I think, is a bit interesting. For some reason, it reminds me of Anne Frank. Not the colors, but the style. Lace up shoes, a dress, and this trench coat. I don't think I'm a striking resemblence of the famous diary owner, but I definatly think the style is at least a little bit similar.

Perks

Sorry for posting late; I've had a rather busy day. (And when my day stopped being busy, I decided to waste time on the internet. Story of my life.) Anyway, along with being a busy day, it was a pretty good day. I got to see my friend Eviva, whom I haven't seen in a while. (Also, I know you read this blog, so hi, Eviva!) It was a lot of fun, and we saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I saw it about a month and a half ago as well, and let me tell you - it is an amazing movie. I haven't read the book yet (bad, bad girl), but oooooh my gosh that movie. If you haven't seen it yet, I definitely reccomend it. Just read the book first!

Catawba and Beyond!

I apoligize for not posting yesterday, but it was *literally* impossible, considering I wasn't near my computer at all. I have the most amazing experiences to write about on this blog about the past 48 hours.

Yesterday was my Catawba College audition. Similar to Abbie's "Rhodes College" experience, I felt like I was walking through Hogwarts. Unfortunatly, I was so busy, I couldn't take a picture of just myself. The picture is kind of a "once in a lifetime" picture in a sense, and it will never happen again on this blog. Being "online schooled" I have "online classmates". Well, my only AP English online classmate is this guy named Riley, who happens to live not too far from where I was auditioning! So, my outfit picture for yesterday is with my "not so virtual" classmate, Riley! It was my audition clothes. My favorite Bambi dress I got in London and some classy black tights.

Today, is another "warm and going to the airport" outfit. I got to take this picture on our way to RDU, at this place called the Bog Garden in Greensboro. It was so cool, and it looked like a "pinterest" picture moment. With all the leaves around, the cool air, and just the right amount of sunshine!

Tumbling Over

Today has been an awesomely antiproductive Saturday. I slept in, I stayed in my pajamas until 1:00, I have spent an inordinate amount of time Tumbling Sherlock gifs*. School and college apps have been such a rollercoaster recently that it's nice to be able to not do anything for a few hours.

*And in those three words, I cemented my obsession once and for all. Not that I ever denied anything.

Elon

Today I had my first college audition at Elon University. I absolutly loved it!! The school is stunningly beautiful, and I really love the program. This is standard audition clothes, which is tights, a dress, a nice pair of shoes. I finally got to use these shoes for their real purpose! This has been such an amazing day, but because i'm so tired, I must say goodbye! I hope you like this outfit!

The Midnight Hour

As I said in my post yesterday, I went to see the Breaking Dawn Part 2 midnight premiere last night. I won't comment much on the quality of the movie (which was questionable, as always), but I had a great time! One of my best friends, Elizabeth (with whom I took part in the Heritage Festival in June), drove 2 1/2 hours to town so that we could see the movie together. It was such a blast! I love going to midnight premieres just for the sake of midnight premieres...especially if I have a friend there to have weird conversations with for 2 hours before the movie starts.

(Like seriously. I feel sorry for anyone who was listening in on our conversation.)

30,000 Miles Up

I wish I could have posted earlier, when I was in the air (30,000 miles up!) Hello, readers! I'm in NORTH CAROLINA FOR AUDITIONS! Can you believe it? I can't believe it! My Elon audition is tomorrow, so tonight we're staying in Burlington. My outfit looks like a typical "i've been awake since 2:30 am and flying all day" outfit. The weather is FREEZING. When we got to RDU, it was raining and very cold. When the rain comes out, I can't wait to see how absolutly beautiful everything is!

Cedric Diggory Lives!

Today is one of those nervewracking days when college applications are due, so I'm trying to make sure my essays are AWESOME. (Because I'm the kind of person who waits until the last minute to send in her applications...) One of the worst parts about sending applications is that the application is no longer in your hands. You can't make changes and have to hope that the admissions people like you. For a control freak/perfectionist like me, that is a TERRIBLE thing to have to experience!

In cooler news, one of my best friends is driving 2 1/2 hours this afternoon so that we can see the Breaking Dawn midnight premiere together. How amazing is that?! I'm pretty excited - I love midnight premieres! (And before you say, "Wait, Abbie, I thought you hated Twilight," I must tell you: I'm going dressed as a Hufflepuff. With a sign that says something about Cedric Diggory.)

Today is one of those days where I'm really busy but am being a terrible procrastinator. Which is unfortunate, because I have two college applications due tomorrow. I'm also doing a quickie post today; I have to get back to convincing myself I am completely motivated to write essays.

A Simple Combination

One of the most common things I read on fashion blogs is, "I need to branch out from wearing a cardigan, a dress, and tights every day." I can understand where this comes from; if fashion's your thing, I do think you should have fun with it and mix things up. Nevertheless, I always want to say, "WHY? Why change?" when I read those blog posts. There's something so appealing about the cardigan/dress/tights combination. It's cute, it's easy, and (especially now that it's cold outside) (!!!) (well, cold for us...), it's kind of all I want to wear.

Short Hair On the Mind

Oh, look, I cut my hair again.

Not really. I just have a crush on bobs - if it's possible to have a crush on a haircut - and this outfit was calling for it. As much as I love my long hair, I find myself wondering what I would look like with a bob. (Not enough to actually cut my hair, though! But someday...) If I was a metamorphmagus, I would be that girl who had a different length hair EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Unfortunately, it's not possible to change your features with an extremely concentrated facial expression, so I'll have to stick with regular old pinning my hair under. Sigh.

Lets Hope It Stays!

Late last night, a cool front blew in through our glorious city, and from the LOOKS of it, the nice weather should last all week. In celebration, I wore a very "fall" tunic that the blog hasnt seen (probably) since last April or something! The breeze is perfect, and I'm so happy I get to use my fall clothes for once! I hope you all are enjoying the nice weather!!

My American Girls

Today was the final day of American Girl! It's kind of a yearly tradition, so it's our last year of doing it! All the girls have been amazing to dance with, and we've just had the best weekend! This outfit is my second "costume". Not nearly as exciting as the first.

Christmastime is Here Again?!

This morning, I realized that I've worn something previously unseen on this blog. I am not entirely sure how that happened, but it makes me feel like I have too many clothes! (I'm sure I'll feel very differently tomorrow morning...)

In other news, I can't believe the amount of Christmas-related everything I'm seeing. I know that the world of advertising is a Christmas free-for-all after Halloween, but every year, I'm surprised when I start seeing red and green at the beginning of November. (There's also a lot of suppressed eye rolling going on.) Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Christmas. I'm one of those people that freaks out about the holidays. I just think it's slightly ridiculous that we feel the need to start advertising Christmas/holiday shopping/fa la la la la before we even start thinking about Thanksgiving!

Skyfall

My family's best family (is that a thing?) is in town this weekend, so we all went to see Skyfall today. We met our friends at 12:30, so I took a shower at 11:30 thinking I'd have plenty of time to get ready. Haha - NOT. Today turned out to be one of those days where everything in my closet sucked and none of my pre-planned outfits were any good. (I blame it on Ruche and their adorable clothes.) At 12:15 (when we had to leave), I still didn't know what to wear. I picked this previously-a-pullover up, grabbed a pair of scissors, and cut it down the middle to make a cardigan. Bam. Outfit made.

(Because everyone knows that when you have nothing to wear, vintage t-shirts are ALWAYS the answer.)

I Like Your Style!

Happy Saturday, and welcome to the yearly "American Girl" weekend! Thank goodness we have two outfits we switch back and forth into, so I got to use my costumes for the outfits! It's nearly six, and I'm flat out EXAUSTED, so I won't make this post long. But lets just say, American Girl is one of the craziest times of the year, and as exausting as it is, it's also one of the best "annual' events HITS does! It's my first and last year as a dancer, and am thrilled to share the stage with some amazing girls!

Le Chat Noir

If you haven't noticed, I don't wear all-black a lot. I'm just too big a fan of mixing colors, especially when it comes to combinations that look superb or so-wrong-they're-right. I (obviously) deviated from that path a little (and/or a lot) today. While the all-black is a little weird for me, I will not deny the ultra-comfort of this outfit. Wearing leggings all day? Fine by me.

I always love fridays, because usually I don't have work, and I get to do a bit of "chilling". I also love that on Fridays, I always get to wear my favorite, or most comfy, clothes. Today, Friday, is no exception.

Also, on a random note... 6 days until I leave for North Carolina auditions! I can't even contain my excitement!

Red and Black

I'm posting so late because I went to see Les Miserables with my grandparents and brother this evening - and oh my stars was it amazing. Les Mis is one of my all-time favorite musicals. I can watch it over and over again and it still gives me chills and makes me tear up. (Which, for me, is kind of a big deal.) Everything about this production, from the set to the characters' chemistry, was incredible. I would recommend the in-town folks go and see it, but it's completely sold out - for good reason!

Ordinary For Now

Happy Thursday, readers! I'm really excited to inform you, that exactly a week from today, I'll be on a plane to North Carolina! I'm super excited about this for many reasons. 1) The weather is going to be in the mid 50's as a high, and 2) I get to audition for two of my top schools! I'm ready, thats for sure, to show them what I've got. But for today, I get to stick to going to work.

The Deathly Hallows

Today, I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival with (the homeschooling portion of) my family and some friends of ours. It was a lot of fun! I didn't get to go last year, but since this is (probably) my last year in town for a while, I wanted to go enjoy the deliciously bad for you food and nitpicking the historically incorrect costumes for sale. (Purist? Never!)

One of my Ren Fest traditions is getting a henna tattoo. You can (kind of) see this year's tattoo on my wrist; it's the sign of the Deathly Hallows. If I were to ever get a tattoo, I'm 99% sure it would be the Deathly Hallows on my wrist in white ink. (Because nothing screams nerd like permanently inking a made-up symbol on your wrist.) However, I probably won't get a tattoo because I feel like that's a decision I would regret somewhere around my 65th birthday. (Or, like, a year after I got it.) So I get to have a "tattoo" for the honeymoon time when it's still super awesome, and the world (or the people who look at the inside of my wrist) will know the full extent of my nerdiness.

So Close, Yet So Far

I, like Abbie, am thrilled about this mysterious cool weather! Literally... don't know how it got here.... but regardless, I hope it's here to stay!

Today has been kind of a "planning for the future" type day. This morning, I went to register for my classes next semester. Thankfully, the schedule I have planned out is definatly less demanding than this semester, and I'm looking forward to rehearsing a LOT for the Miller show and auditioning like crazy for college! I also went with my grandma to lunch, and we talked about things I wanted to do (or things we could do together) to celebrate this fall season, since it's almost over. Christmas is just around the corner! That also means that January 1st is coming closer and closer every day. So close, yet so far.

Unfortunatly, my birthday is the month AFTER elections, so to everyone who can vote, Happy Election Day!

Epic Who Time

So somehow, it's cool outside. Amazing, isn't it? I'm not complaining, though - not when I get a chance to wear a sweater and tights!

I seem to have passed the cold I have (which is now more of a chest-hurting cough) onto my youngest brother. He's been home the last two days, which has been both weird (Because I'm used to him being at school. And he's been begging me to take him to get the newest Halo game in exchange for taking pictures.) and completely normal (Because he was homeschooled for three years. And he's been begging me to take him to get the newest Halo game in exchange for taking pictures.). It's also pretty awesome, because our family watched two episodes of Doctor Who last night. (Perks, man.) Regardless of rare school nights of watching epic TV shows, here's to hoping nobody else in our family gets the cold! Neither of us feel super great, and I'd hate to have somebody else get sick, too.

It's Greek to Me

Good afternoon, readers! I'm feeling marginally better today. (Think Fields of Asphodel as opposed to yesterday's Tartarus.) I still have a little bit of a headache/fatigue, and I sound all stuffy, but I'm able to function as a normal human being without feeling like my head is being split with an axe.

(Like when Hephaestus split Zeus' head open and out popped Athena.)

(What is it with me and the references to Greek mythology today?)
