Don't Blink

Happy Halloween! Sorry I'm posting so late. I had things to do. Like...trick or treating...and college applications. I DID DO THOSE. ANYWAY, I love Halloween. I'm one of those types who dresses up and goes trick or treating far past the "acceptable" age of doing so, if you can imagine. This year, I dressed as a weeping angel from Doctor Who. I was inspired by this tutorial. The costume took about two weeks of three-five hours, five days a week to make. There was a lot of spray painting and glue involved. I wish I had had a little more time to work on it, but I'm pretty pleased with the results! At any rate, it scared a lot of children. I think I made some cry...which was not supposed to happen.

Um...costume details...

Made entirely by me. Supplies from Hobby Lobby, Target, Academy, and Texas Art Supply. The skirt is made from some old bedsheets of mine.

And for funsies, here's a picture of my brother sonicing me. He's dressed as the 11th Doctor. (Nerd family? What?)

All Hallows Eve

Happy Halloween, readers! I hope your night is filled with goblins, ghosts, and most of all, treats! My outfit sort of is my costume... i'm "dressing up" as Amy Pond from Doctor Who. Thankfully, my costume doesn't require me to dress up a lot, which i'm happy about. It may not be all that accurate, but I did the best I could with what I had. I think when I add a leather jacket, it'll be much more "Amy"

You Can Sleep When You're Dead

I've kind of gotten to that point where I'm so tired that it's hard to think straight. I've been working a crazy schedule trying to get everything done, and it's starting to catch up to me. Hopefully things will quiet down after November 1st. I have a college application do that day (eek!) so I'll finish up all of my Common App goodness tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the day when I can get a good night's sleep and not have to stress about writing 10,000 essays at the same time.

Two Pictures, One Day

Hello everyone, I apoligize for not posting yesterday. I was home alone, and running around all day. That being said,  this morning, I got to put on yesterday's outfit and wear it today, along with the actual thing i'm wearing! I have, yet, another very busy day preparing for college auditions and doing schoolwork. My hair is up in a "half up half down" because I will probably be doing my dance "prescreening" today, and I have to look all pretty!

Rhapsody in (Mustard and) Blue

In my interview on Saturday, my interviewer asked if I was used to chilly weather. I said, "Well, I'm from Texas, so...no," and I think that statement is exemplified pretty well in this picture. It was probably 60 degrees out, but I was still cold enough to be wearing a jacket. (Not like I'm complaining. I love this outfit.) I did tell my interviewer that, even though I wasn't used to cold weather, I loved it. I think I've talked about how much I like cold weather and bundling up plenty of times on this blog!

Also, I seem to be on a mustard/blue streak. I'm afraid it will end tomorrow, but it was pretty good while it lasted!

In On the Fun

Aaaaah, tights! I love tights. Even more, I love the weather you wear tights in. All of October, the fashion blogs I follow have been full of "Tights!" and "Coats!" and "Fall foliage!" and I've been enviously watching from the sidelines. Now, though, I can take part in it all. (Well, besides the fall foliage, and only until the weather decides that "seasonally appropriate" is 85 degrees.)

Rolling With The Wind

I woke up this morning and it was even COLDER than it was yesterday! I woke up and it was about 44 degrees outside. Man have I missed weather like this! Because today is a work/rehearsal day, I get to usually decide on dresses with tights, and add whatever I want with it! I have been in a "hat" mood lately, so I added my beret with a cardigan and a scarf. This is a perfect fall outfit that allows me to transition from crazy dancer, to workaholic!

Nerd It Out

After a long day of scouts and rushing to finish my Halloween costume (I went to a trunk or treat tonight), I had to get all prettied up for a college interview. I accidentally went with gray fingernails because I'd been spray painting all day, but I think the interview went well! My interviewer and I ended up talking about The Hunger Games for five minutes, which seems like a pretty good sign...:)

I'm A Proud Big Sissy

It's only 11:30, and i've already done so much today. Today is my little sister, Zoe's 8th birthday! I am so proud of her in every way, shape and form, and I'll be sad to leave her this next year. In addition to that, I went with my mom and grandma to my brother's early morning marching band competition. My little bro is in the pit, which are the people that don't march but play the percussion intruments. He did SUCH a good job, and I couldn't be more proud. The marching band competition was outside, and it is FREEZING, so I am dressed to the nines in warm clothes. And I was STILL cold.

Change is in the Air

I had to make runs to Home Depot for Halloween supplies yesterday and today. I've gone dressed in nicer street clothes, and I feel a little silly walking through the hardware store with a bow in my hair!

On another note, it feels incredible today. A cold front came through last night, so it's chilly and cloudy outside. When I walked outside to take a picture, I told my mom, "It feels like Thanksgiving!" There's always that moment in October/November where the weather changes and it finally starts to feel like fall (except for last year, when it was 60 degrees on Christmas) - and it looks like that day is (hopefully) finally here!

After All This Time!

I have been waiting forever for the weather to be like this. I walked outside this morning, and the wind was blowing, my lips felt a little chapped, and I wore this green sweater without feeling like an idiot. Today, I'm going to be singing at the opening of the new Walmart in the Heights, so I was determined to look nice, but not dressy. I don't think i've ever worn this green sweater on the blog, but its one of my favorites! It's my favorite shade of green, and I love the fact that it's even cool enough to wear it!

MDNA

This week, my life has been made up of two parts: Working on college essays and making my Halloween costume. Both projects are incredibly time consuming, and I've been up until at least midnight every day since Monday. I'm pretty tired, especially since I went to the Madonna concert last night. She didn't start playing until 10:30, and the concert didn't get out 'til 1:00. I've pretty much been on a caffeine IV since. It will be so nice when this is all done and I can get my normal, obscene amount of sleep!

Goodbye Warm!

Today, I was so excited to hear on the news that it is our last day of warm weather for a while! This is the day i've been waiting for all year. This is the last warm outfit you'll see by me for a long time! I can't even contain my excitement!

Anyways, do you like the color combo I used today? I didn't know this shimmery grey and dusty rose color would actually work. To my great surprise, it did!

Pretty Spiffy

Yesterday, my grandma called and said that she was coming over to our house because she had something to give me. Turns out, it was an adorable cardigan that didn't fit her. She remembered my admiring it when she got it for Christmas a few years ago, so she decided to give it to me! I'm kind of really excited - you all know how much I love cardigans.

When It Gets Hard

One thing I love and hate about this blog, is feeling like I have to dress up every day. I love dressing up, but on days like today, where my lack of sleep and unusually high stress level have taken over, I want to wear sweat pants and a t-shirt. I cannot do that. I love this outfit, yes, but I would much rather be wearing my sweat pants today.

A Little Problem With Memory

Abbie here. I'm sorry my posting has been so wonky these last few days! After the usual road trip interruptions and my camera dying Saturday night, my camera's memory card spent all day yesterday in my dad's computer at his office. Obviously, I couldn't get a picture done without the memory card! So here I am, with a delightful triple post. We'll get back to regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.

Sunday's outfit is the typical "driving all day, don't care what I look like" uniform. I was really glad that I'd packed my almost-jegging jeans. I'd originally planned to wear a dress and look all cute, but on Sunday morning I decided that wasn't going to fly.

Since I didn't have my card yesterday, I kind of forgot about the whole "getting dressed" thing. Yesterday was insane with a capital S-T-R-E-S-S, so it was probably a good thing that I decided to throw on my Nikes and a t-shirt!

The Final 70 Days

I don't know if i'll do this or not, but i'm tempted to count down the rest of the days in the year. As of today, we only have 70 more oufits to wear. Can you believe it? This year has gone by so quickly, it's hard to believe that we're almost done. Today's outfit is kind of a "typical" Lindy outfit again, with a bunch of neurtals, and a pop color. This pink shirt always seems to be the pop color shirt...

Black and Classy or Pretty in Pink?

I was contemplating my outfit this morning. I paired a pale pink top, very much a timeless sweet type of look, and a black blazer, which is sharp and very much a clean lined look. These are two things I didn't expect to work together. I don't really know if they do! Regardless, I've got to come up with as many things to finish this year off, and even if it isn't a perfect fit, I've got to wear it anyways!

As Hogwartsy As It Gets

As you're reading this, I'm probably sitting in a car, writing essays or working on my Halloween costume. I didn't post Friday or Saturday because I was a) on a road trip and b) on a college visit. That's right! I was out of town again.

This time, we went to Memphis, Tennessee to visit my mother's alma mater, Rhodes College. It was both homecoming and her class reunion (won't tell you which one!), and since we knew I was really interested in the school, I went up to tour the campus.

We drove all day on Friday. After we got to Memphis, we hung out and had dinner with my couin and her boyfriend. We didn't get to the hotel until 10:30, and I was way too tired to post. I didn't even manage to get a picture in, so this is a high-quality hotel room shot taken yesterday morning.

Yesterday, I toured the campus, where I literally felt like I was in an English village constructed sometime in the middle ages. Or Hogwarts. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and it was a great day to tour. I loved the school, and it was really neat getting to see it in person since I've heard about it all my life! I spent the night with my cousin, and once again, we were out late and I was too tired to update. Excuses, excuses.

Flying By

I apoligize for not posting yesterday... I left the house at 8 am, and didn't get home until midnight! So today is a double post! Yesterday I had a realization that we're already halfway through October. We are more than 3/4 of the way done. It is RIDICULOUS how fast this year has flown by. Anyways, yesterday, I got to pull out a light long sleeve, and It was nice to see it again! Today is still a bit warmer, but I still wanted to add a touch of "fall" to, hopefully, bring the fall weather back. Do you like the idea I had to add leg warmers with my mini heels?

My Continuous Obsession with British Fashion

I don't know what it is about European fashion, particularly British and French fashion, but I just love it! After watching Harry Potter (I know, I'm sorry I'm mentioning it again!) I noticed that they love to wear cardigans that are buttoned up and simple accessories, like scarves, with it. I don't know, something about this outfit makes me feel very British, and it makes me want to go back to England. This is just the epitamy of a "Lindy" outfit. Very simple, but has its touches ;Neutral colors, and red hair to match.

Treasure Trove

After nine and a half months of taking pictures, you would think my mom/brother and I know the best backdrops at our house. Apparently not. This fence is right on the property line between our house and our neighbor's, and my mom suggested we take a picture there. Turns out, the fence is really minimalist and modern and a perfect backdrop. Pretty cool find, huh?

Something Old

When I was with my grandma on Tuesday, she noticed the owl necklace I was wearing. Apparently, she hasn't noticed my absolute obsession for owls lately! When I explained to her this love, she told me she had an owl necklace she'd like to give to me! This owl necklace is much bigger, but it adds a nice, thick, accent to any simple outfit!

Operating On a Schedule

It is incredible how much having a schedule makes you more productive. I'm the kind of person who's such a procrastinator they need to operate on a schedule, but this school year, I've been really lax about having one. Last night, I finally cracked and planned out what I'm going to do and when I'm going to do it. Already, I've gotten more done than I've been able to these last few days! (Notice how I'm posting at noon, not 5?) It's such a relief to have my day planned out. Less stress and less mess!

(You're welcome for that rhyme. I kind of feel like a perky character from a cleaning product commercial now.)

The Long Week Blues

Today is Wednesday- and only Wednesday. Because I went to work yesterday, this week seems incredibly slow. It feels like Friday, and I want it to be Friday, but it's not! Since I'm not going to work today, I got to wear my "comfy" clothes to school today! As much as I love dressing up, some days I just gotta pull on a cover up and some boots, and not care what I look like. That day is today.

A Mid-Autumn Day's Dream

I'm in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream with a group of friends. We had rehearsal today, so I figured I would mix things up and take a picture there! My shirt and sweater are kind of a tribute to my wishful thinking. I love the colors leaves turn in the fall (who doesn't?) and think it's one of the most beautiful sights. I live in a land of tropical trees and evergreens, so I don't get to see much fall foliage in town!

Grandma's Pumpkin Patch

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Today's schedule is a bit different, because I'm going to work today, and not tomorrow. This morning, I went over to my grandma's house to start working on a t-shirt quilting project, and to get some material for the day. My grandma even gave me some pumpkin bread to bring home! My picture today, was taken at "Grammy's Pumpkin Patch" where all things are made delicious!

Weather Misconceptions

I wore this dress thinking it would be hot outside, but it was actually...pleasant. Temperatures settled in the 90s again last week, but we had a nice thunderstorm yesterday. Hopefully this weather will stick around for a while! (But that's probably wishful thinking.)

Good Kind of Busy

Well, today was certainly busy! After church, I started figuring out how to make my Halloween costume. First of all, how is it that I'm already planning my Halloween costume? Secondly, I can't wait to show it to you. You'll have to wait to find out what I'm going as, though! I had a Scouts meeting this afternoon, and after that, we had a family friend over to talk about college. (Because why else would we socialize with people now?) All in all, it was a good day.

Bunhead

I decided to try out the "bunhead" look today, because my hair has to be somewhat decent throughout a two and a half hour rehearsal, and then at work. The outfit is one of my favorites right now, and I think I rocked the look quite well, if I do say so myself :)

Jitterbug

My youth group threw a dance to raise money for our mission trip tonight. It was 50s themed, so everyone dressed up in their best throwback attire. The only poodle skirt I own (do I even still have it? Hm...) was my Halloween costume in third grade and made entirely out of cheap polyester, so there was no way I was going to wear it. I figured the classic cardigan and skirt thing worked just as well. Throw in the saddle shoes my dad got me and a scarf in my hair and I've got a proper sockhop outfit!

We Meet Again

For those of you who have been with the blog since we started, know that in January, I participated in an acting master class with Dr. David Krasner. Well, now that we're seniors, Dr. Krasner is back to talk to us about his new program at Dean College. Even though i'm not performing for him again until January, I feel it's important to make an impression, particularly to someone who might be accepting me into his program. So, this outfit, hopefully, makes an impression!

Essays Essays Essays

Today is another typical Friday - school, college applications, ballet. I'm finally starting to zero in on finishing my applications and writing my essays. While it's gratifying to be able to check things off of my to-do list, it is SO VERY STRESSFUL trying to get everything done! Still, it's nice to know that, by the end of the month (and definitely by the end of November), almost all of this application related stress will be gone. Then, there will be plenty of room for all of that acceptance letter related stress to move on in!

(After that terribly relaxing post, I feel the urge to comment on how pretty it is today, and how much I love life. Unicorns and flowers and rainbows, too.)

It's friday, and i'm EXAUSTED. I have had quite the week with the amount of homework i've had. I haven't been this tired in ages. Because of that, I don't really care too much about what I look like today. I just want to get through today, and crash hard on my bed when I get home.

What Are Friends For?

Abbie has been a great person to share this blog with. I can probably say she has given me such good fashion advice and has really pushed me to use everything I've given to its maximum potential. Abbie frequently mixes shirts with dresses, so I thought I'd try and do the same. I took a shirt I haven't used in forever, and made it onto a crop top for this dress. Now it looks like an entirely new outfit! What a great friend I have to share this blog with, and to steal all of her ideas. :) What are friends for?

Falling Up

It's actually a little too hot for me to be wearing this jacket today. The weather was reminiscent of early summer (Naaaaaaaay! Also, early summer?!), and I wanted to fall it up as much as possible. So, jean jacket and new shoes that I absolutely adore that clash beautifully with this dress it is!

My Undenied Love of Green.

I LOVE fall colors. Most season's I wear fall colors. The last time the blog saw me wear this shirt, was February! That was forever ago, and it's one of my favorite shirts for many reasons. I LOVE wearing green. My eyes are green, and this particular shirt brings them out quite a bit! This is actually the shirt I wear in the headshot that all the colleges get to see, because it brings out my green eyes so well :) I've been saving this outfit for a long time now, since the beginning of the year, so I hope you enjoy!

One of THOSE Stages

These past few weeks, I've been so busy and overloaded that I reverted back to what I like to call "Third Grade Abbie stage." When I was in elementary school, I'd literally dump everything, from clothes to books, onto my bed, leaving only a little space for me to sleep. This pile of stuff was occasionally feet high, and my friends and family still talk about it. Thankfully, I grew out of this stage of unclean packratishness, but a tendency towards it is still burrowed in the back of my brain. My room was nowhere near that bad this morning, but I got so fed up with it, I decided to clean instead of doing school. (One of the benefits of being a perfectionist slob is that I'm occasionally grabbed by these mad desires to clean until everything is perfect.) So now, my room is clean, I have space to breathe, and I'm ready to start school...tomorrow!

Super Similar (But Not The Same)

This outfit looks incredibly similar to an outfit I wore about two weeks ago, I must admit. This outfit, though, is far from the same. The shirt is black, but not the same shirt. The scarf is blue, but it's a different scarf this time. I'm wearing capri's this time, and not crop jeans. And the shoes? Well, they're the same. So though two outfits looks similar, it is not cheating, because they aren't the same, whatsoever!

A Jaunt to the Sea

Surprise! My family went to Galveston yesterday for an overnight trip! We've all been so busy recently that my parents decided we needed family time on Columbus Day. (If you're confused, thinking, 'Didn't they just go to Colorado?', I'm not sure I ever said that it was only my mom, middle brother, and aunt on the trip. And me, of course. My dad had to work and the baby is in school now...sucker.)

Anyway, I have a thing for clouds and chilly weather, so it was absolutely lovely. I had to wear my jacket as we walked around the Strand this morning. It was a really nice mini trip/way to spend Columbus Day!

Columbus Sailed The Ocean Blue

"In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue". Happy Columbus Day to everyone! Unfortunaly I'm still at school. The weather was still FREEZING (for Houstonians, that is) this morning, and it made me wonder what the weather was like when Columbus sailed across the sea to find "Asia", which turned out to be America. My outfit is blue like the sea! I hope you all have a great "holiday"!
