And We're Back

My family rolled into town late this afternoon. It's nice to be back, but I miss Colorado! That's how it always is; none of us are ever ready to leave Estes. My outfit was originally supposed to be a lot cuter than this, but we were driving for seven hours and I really didn't feel like wearing jeans. So you get my favorite Nikes...enjoy!

Windy Lindy!!

It is SO NICE out today, since it rained all day yesterday. I went outside to take my picture and there was this WONDERFUL breeze, and I just started dancing around in it! My dad said " It's windy Lindy"! So I just kept dancing. The breeze is wonderful, and it feels like a touch of fall has returned. I wore my darker neutrals to celebrate. I really love this look, because it's sophisticated and work appropriate, but it's still very "Lindy" and fun!  Thank you god for the breeze! What a nice way to end the month :)

Sherlock and Tired and Driving

I am SO tired this morning. Last night, my mom, brother, and I stayed up until 11:30 (12:30 our time) watching the season one finale of Sherlock (I cannot imagine having to wait to years to see the next season. Good thing we waited, I guess.). Today, we're leaving Colorado (BOO) and driving a grand total of twelve hours before we reach our hotel.

In the picture, you were supposed to be able to see the gorgeous view of the mountains that we have from our grandparent's house, but the sun's shining too brightly, so they're all washed out. We're in a huge hurry, too, so...just imagine the prettiest mountains you've ever seen in that big white gap behind my head.

Why Is It Always Blue?

It seems the past few times, with maybe the exception of a couple weeks ago, I wear blue when it's raining outside. It's been raining all night, and is expected to rain all day. I really like this outfit, though. I like adding this shade of blue with white. It's a very "sweet" outfit. If only I could have found my ivory flower instead of my teal one....

Two Roads Diverged In A Yellow Wood

Today was an incredibly awesome day! We took my senior pictures this morning at one of our favorite RMNP spots, the Alluvial Fan. Then, this afternoon, we went on a hike. By hike, I mean: "We were originally supposed to walk about half a mile to an abandoned tea room that was super popular in the early 1900s. Then, my mom wanted to keep walking to a split in the path. Once we got to the divergent path, she decided she wanted to walk all the way up to Lily Lake, which was probably 1 or 1.5 miles up the road. When we reached the lake, my aunt decided that instead of following the trail back to our house, we should backwoods it across the mountains to our house. So we spent probably an hour and a half walking in the general direction of civilization without any trails to guide our way on the steep, gravelly face of the mountain." Luckily, the hike was incredibly fun and beautiful, so it was all worth it - but we're all exhausted and ready for dinner now!

When we decided to keep hiking to the lake, we had no idea how long the hike actually was. Not wanting to be stuck doing a long, tricky hike with no one else in sight, I protested, "Mom, we could be doing this hike for five minutes or three hours."

She replied, "We're almost done. I'm not going to hike for three hours."

The hike took us three hours.

Thank God For Leotards.

Today, I did NOT feel like wearing something nice or interesting. I had dance last night, and because of the inner thigh workouts, I am extremly sore. I have dance in about two hours, but didn't feel like changing today. I was not in the mood to move any of my muscles more than they had to be moved. Thank god for leotards that can can be worn underneath street clothes. Then, I don't have to change.

Fangirling Over College

Is it taboo to fangirl about a college on your blog? I don't really know. I don't really care, because I want to fangirl about a college on my blog. One of the primary reasons we visited Colorado this week was so I could visit and interview at Colorado College. I was in love with it before I went, so I was a little worried that once I actually got there it wouldn't be as amazing as it was in my head. But oh, was I wrong. This college is amazing. It's perfect. If possible, I like it even more now. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit it!

I'll probably end up doing a double post tomorrow; I just wanted to get this up and I was way too tired to last night.

(Also, let me introduce you to my college interview dress. It's one of those "special exceptions" we listed in the rules at the beginning of the year...and it was half off at Anthropologie.)

Not Quite Cool Enough

It's still not quite fall here in the good ol' H-Town. The high is still close to 90, unfortunatly. I have my outfits planned for every month up until we finish off, so I had to go with the most "airy" outfit I could find in my little folder. Unfortunatly, that still consisted of combat boots and a hanging scarf, but hey, at least i'll be lookin' cute!

Another Day, Another Dress

It's finally gotten to be like a routine, my schedule. I like routine. My wednesday routine is getting up, going to Algebra at 8, blogging at 9:15, Economics at 10:15, and then work at Noon. Today just feels like another wednesday. Another work day, another dress.

Old Town Rustic

Today, after hiking all morning (sometimes in the rain, which was lovely - no sarcasm intended), my family went into town. Estes Park is a cute little town that seems to be perpetually stuck in the 70s - but in a good, rustic way. It's basically the same year after year, and I always love walking around. Since my grandfather's been coming to Estes since he was a teenager, my family's built up traditions that we carry out whenever we come here. One of my favorites is going to our favorite candy shop and getting caramel apples - picured below. The weather was gorgeous again today, and right after we took this picture it got so chilly I had to put my jacket on!

Colorado in Fall

Today was our first full day in Colorado, and we spent it in Rocky Mountain National Park. The weather was absolutely gorgeous - and ranged from 39 to 60 degrees (oh, YES). The deciduous trees (mainly aspens) are all this gorgeous shade of yellow (even though you can only see pines in the picture...sorry!) It's so perfect. I've been coming to Estes Park since I was born, and I fall in love with it more every time we go.

'Puff Pride!

Abbie and I, obsessed as we may be, are extreme Harry Potter nerds, if you couldn't already tell. My mom was in Florida last week, and though she didn't go to Universal, there was a Harry Potter store in the Orlando airport. When we go on trips, we all get something small, and my thing was a Hufflepuff shirt! I am so excited to wear it all the time. Now I can really sport off my 'Puff pride!

Not In Kansas Anymore

I promise, the cliche and overused title is there for a reason! Last night, we stayed in Wichita, Kansas, and we drove through the rather large state for several hours today. Now we are, at long last, in my beloved Estes Park - but no pictures of that yet! We stopped at the Colorado Welcome Center and, much like we did in Florida, took a picture at (or close to) the state line. I'm really tired after a long night of no sleep and a long day of driving, and I am so glad to be here at last!

(This photo was taken directly after I wimped out on doing a bell kick...and it turned out to be my favorite.)

Lindy, Gone Retro

Lindy here, and I decided to try a retro look today. I really don't know HOW retro this outfit or this look is, but I think it is. Romper, with bowtie, cardigan, flats, and my favorite, red lipstick. Just now thought to use my black and white 50's keds, but I already took this picture! Oh well, next time I try look Retro, i'll remember.

Driving

Today was part one of our 18 hour drive to Colorado - 10 hours in the car! We left at 10:00 this morning and got to the hotel in time to see Doctor Who at 8:00. Unfortunately, our hotel doesn't have BBC America, so that didn't happen. BUT, first world problems aside, here's my update!

Fall Is Here, Bring on the Boots!

Happy first day of fall to everyone! I LOVE fall weather, as explained many times previously. Fall, in my eyes, is the season of boots. I love my boots and booties, and can't wait to wear them for the blog! To celebrate, i'm wearing fall colors, and a pair of my favorite boots; my black knee high's. I'm also excited about fall, because I can't tell you how how many dark fall colors I own. I'm excited to finally bring them out after nearly 6 months of summer!

Speaking of owning clothes, I would like to say Happy Birthday to the person who has donated me half of the clothes I now own, Staci. If you ever see "hand me down" next to my outfit descriptions, it belonged to this chick.

Dyeing Party

Double post today! Lindy here, and Abbie is leaving for Colorado tomorrow (very jealous, right?), so the two of us spent some time together dyeing my hair, and hanging out at her house.

My comment on Abbie's outfit is, she ALWAYS wears this dress. All the time. She used her checkered blazer, which i'm very jealous of, and made it an entirely new outfit! Look how fancy we get around here!

My outfit was not originally planned. I have been so adamant about keeping up with what I wore, and only wearing what I have in my little "September" outfit folder. Well, I was really tired this morning, and wanted nothing less than to wear something comfy. So I grabbed a pull over, and ran out the door.

(Abbie says: Fun fact - this is actually the outfit I wore roughly a year ago when I first toyed with the idea of having a fashion blog. I went to my front yard and took pictures and my mom was like, "What on Earth are you doing?" Also, I have no idea when I'm going to post tomorrow. We're driving for nine hours and won't have internet...so don't hold your breath!)

The Back of Your Head is Riddikulus

(Harry Potter AND viral video in one post title? Oh yes.)

I was originally supposed to wear my red shorts today, but it felt so good outside that I just had to slip on a pair of jeans. It's also reaching that point in the year where micro shorts are just too short and I tuck them away in my drawer to be pulled out in a couple of months.

(On a slightly offhand note, it's 2:45 and it STILL feels amazing.)

(PS, Please enjoy the back of my head.)

(PPS, There are an abnormal amount of parenthetical statements in this post.)

Cold Front Happiness!

A second cold front blew through last night, so when I woke up this morning, it was in the 50'S!! It was like, the best thing ever. My sister and I went out to look for the space shuttle, Endeavor, and we heard it, but didn't see it. Now, back to this outfit. It's one of the favorites I have planned for this month! I love my neutral colors, and i'm more than thrilled that I get to add a scarf in there. It won't be cool enough for a scarf for very long, but I can get my hopes up, can't I?

Black and Blue, I'm Still Missing You

I am VERY tired this morning. I had a Pumpkin Spice Latte, but it didn't help much, surprisingly. I'm so exausted, and I can't seem to wake up. I miss the mornings where I didn't have to be anywhere, or get up to do anything. I really love being at school, but I also miss my rest.

Yesterday, a "cold front" blew through, so it's really nice outside today. I had to take this opprotunity to wear a scarf, and two of my favorite colors to constantly match together :)

All Cooped Up

Pretty much the only reason I put this skirt on was to take my pictures - I'm not really planning on leaving the house today, so I've been wearing my trusty old Nikes! That's one problem with all of the intense studying I've been doing recently: I don't really have time to go anywhere else. Luckily, I'm going on a college trip/vacation next week to one of my very favorite places in the world - Colorado! That will definitely get me out of the house (and into the gorgeous, golden Rockies...I'm so excited).

Not Quite Boot Weather?

Everyone knows how much I love fall, and everything associated with it. I love my pumpkin flavored foods, I love my chapped lips and cool breeze, and I certainly love going outside at night when it's chilly and making a bonfire. During the day today, a cold front is SUPPOSED to flow through, but it isn't supposed to get chilly until tomorrow. Guess what? I don't care! I have been dying to wear my boots and a fall inspired outfit all month long, and I just can't wait any longer! (not even a day!)

Aches and Pains

I've been typing and writing so much recently that my hands (yes, both of them) ache ache ache like I have pre-carpal tunnel syndrome. It's pretty unfortunate, since almost everything I do for school involves using my hands! But I just need to stop complaining and get my school done - because it certainly won't finish itself!

Package In the Mail

A few days ago, my lovely aunt offered to mail me a dress of hers she no longer wore. I gladly accepted, and the dress got here on Friday. As I examined it, I saw that it was the same brand as a dress I got (on sale, I promise) at Anthropolgie - so turns out it's a really nice dress!

Material things aside, I was so tired today. I don't know if it's a side effect of staying up late on Friday or if I'm getting an illness my brother had earlier this week. I really, really hope I'm not getting sick - that's about the last thing I need right now!

Mustard Love

It's been a while since we've seen these shorts! They were lying in a laundry bag, wrinkly and needing to be ironed for a while, but since it's (almost) fall and my undying love for mustard yellow can be unashamedly showcased, I figured I should get around to ironing them. Also because I needed to stop procrastinating and just do it. This is such a comfortable outfit; all I'm really doing today is working on college stuff, so it's perfect!

For the Books

It feels a little weird to be all "dressed up" today, because I'm literally not going anywhere in this outfit. That seems like all I'm doing these days; because of the way school is this year, I don't have any outside classes that meet regularly. Ah, well. Maybe my books will appreciate the effort I put into looking nice for them ;)

When I Buy Clothes...

Abbie and I have already been talking about what we're going to buy when this year is up. One of the many things I want to buy, is lots more baggy, comfy shirts. I don't like the tight shirts too much anymore, as I have in the past, so when I get to wear something I really like, like today, that's very comfy and relaxed, i'm so excited!!

Simple Days Call For Simple Dresses

Today's just a simple day of studying (like most of my days are now...hmm...) and going to a college fair, so I just wanted to look cute and be comfortable (like I do most days!). I love the way navy/blue and orange look together, and even though my closet is sadly lacking in orange, I have this headband and purse that do the trick quite nicely. I don't wear them often, but today I found that they work well together - so they might be getting pulled out of the closet more often.

Pinterest Ideas (continued....)

Ever since Abbie finally got me hooked on Pinterest, I can't help but use the site for outfit ideas. Pinterest made me go fall crazy, but there are also some really good ideas for the "transition" into fall, which is whats happening right now. Since i'm at school today, I was dying for a sweater or jacket of somesort (the library is always FREEZING). While on pinterest a few nights ago, I came across this idea of wearing scallop shorts with a blazer. I knew I had my dusty rose colored scallop shorts, and my black blazer, but I didn't know what to wear for a shirt. I decided to try an unlikely color friendship, blue and purple, but it actually turned out quite well! I hope you enjoy this outfit as much as I have!

Love Them Cold Fronts

The weather recently has been amazing (for September!). A cold front came through Saturday, and now it's in the 80s - which, for Houstonians, can be pretty pleasant. I was filling the car up at about 11:00 this morning, and when a breeze blew, it was actually - dare I say it? - cool.

Peace, Love, Britain.

I am in such a British mood lately. I watched Harry Potter last night, sat through episodes of Doctor Who with Abbie on sunday, and today, i'm bringing out the union jack scarf! Since it's a nice, quiet day around here, I thought i'd just slip on something comfy, and it happened to be british. What a nice surprise :).

Also, Happy 9/11! Pray for the families that lost their loved ones today.

Fresh Face

This shirt, much like the dress I wore yesterday, is something I've somehow managed to not wear (this year, at least) until now. I don't know why; it's a pretty shirt that would have been perfect for summer. I figured it was high time to take it out, so take it out I did!

Belt Problems!

I really REALLY haven't worn this shirt in a long time.... I'm pretty sure the last time I wore this shirt for the blog was in January. This shirt, originally, had its own belt that went with it, but recently the belt became to shrivelled and old to wear with it. I thought to myself "OH! What am I to do?I have not a belt to wear!" Then, I remembered, I still have my thick black belt! It may not look just like the original, but certainly does the job!

Tiring Weekend!

Well...yesterday was busy. Exciting and fun (mostly), but busy! I took the ACT in the morning (which was not so fun) and then had the first rehearsal of the semester. Today was my church's 50th anniversary, so there was a big service and bigger lunch afterwards. It was a lot of fun! But now, I'm really tired. I'll be glad to fall asleep tonight!

The last time I wore this shirt was MARCH. Weirdly enough, that was nearly six months ago. I am not quite sure why I never wore it during the summer, possibly because its silky and silky is more of a fall/winter material. I love the color, and i'm excited to bring it out again!

14 Hour Days

There are some days that I literally work from 9am, to 11pm. I've done it many times before in the past interning, but today is a little different. I've got work in the morning, first Godspell rehearsal at 1, audition class right after that, and then babysitting all night tonight. Can you talk about a long day? The outfit you see here, is definatly not the only outfit i'm wearing today, but is probably the outfit i'm going to start, and end my day with.

Much like yesterday, I'm feeling very brain fried. I can't wait for the ACT to be over. Then, I'll only have three subject tests to study for! (Yay?)
