Dog Days

Oh boy is it hot outside! Mom and I only ran outside to snap these pictures and take care of the chickens and I was sweating. We've been blessed with a pretty mild summer so far, but it looks like those famous Texas dog days are finally hitting - and here to stay.

Today, I am a little machine of productivity, but this outfit doesn't really reflect that. I have a couple of shirts that I've mentally reserved for nice events, and as a result, I don't wear them that often. This is one of those shirts, but it's also one of my favorite shirts - so I tried to throw away any precepts of "I will look ridiculously nice for a day around the house if I wear this" and put it on. I like the shirt with the shorts, but I still feel a little overdressed!

Relaxing the Day Away

It's a bright, sunny Monday here, and I thought it would be nice to wear a pair of shorts to celebrate. Long Time, No See

Wow! It's been well over two months since I've worn this cardigan (on the blog). Which, for this cardigan, is a very long time. We've actually been having a pretty mild summer so far, but once it gets over 85 degrees, it's way too hot for any kind of sweater.

Pippi Longstocking

My red, curly hair has done it again. Today's a work day, and instead of washing my hair this morning, I washed it last night. This causes many problems with how my hair curls... and so I stuck my hair into two braids. I look like Pippi Longstocking!

People have always told me they liked this shirt. This will be the third time i've worn it this year, and it always does the trick. :)

Welcome to the Airlines!

Happy Saturday, Friends! Abbie and I had a really fun little party yesterday- we made a London Cake! I may ask her to post some pics of that! It was very cool, and the ceremonies were very fun and interesting!

My Outfit today reminds me of my trip to London and Paris this year, in the way that I feel like I look like an airline attendant, particularly with my hair. Also, if you saw what the USA team members were wearing last night, they looked like airline attendants as well! I love the colors of this outfit- they're somewhat summery, and fun. Official, since i'm going to work, and fun for the summer weather!

Like Lindy said, we're having a little Opening Ceremonies party tonight in honor of the Olympics! A few years ago, my cousin studied abroad in Uruguay, and she brought me this hand-painted hair clip for Christmas. I decided to wear it to show a little "Yay world!" pride today (also because it's really pretty and I don't wear it often).

London Olympic Pride!

Happy Friday, friends! Today is the day of the London 2012 Olympic Ceremonies. Abbie is coming over to my house later, and we're gonna have an Olympic watching party! A cool fact that you may like to know, my mom taught two Olympic Gymnasts! One of them, Jonathan Horton on the Male USA Gymnastics team, my mom taught 8th grade science. The other,  Aly Raisman, the USA Women's Gymnastics Team Captain,  my mom taught Science just this year with FLVS!

So, this outfit brings out the essence of the blog- using different pieces to create whole new looks. When you see that I have "shorts" that you've never seen before, you may think to yourself, "Lindy did NOT go get navy high waisted shorts, did she? That's against the rules!". I promise, I didn't. The truth of the matter is, I used my new romper, the white and navy one, and put the union jack crop top over it, so it looks like a whole new outfit! My outfit consists of MANY union jacks, but believe me, I am still supporting Team USA!

Also, notice the Hufflepuff pin on my chest. Abbie got it for me at the Wizarding World!

For Old Times' Sake

I wore something very similar to this last year, to a special showing of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (because I am the type of person who goes and sees expensive, one-night-only showings when her favorite movies are temporarily playing at movie theatres), so it seemed fitting to wear this again today. Why? Because Jurrasic Park, one of my family's all-time favorite movies, is playing at a local theatre, and we're going to see it tonight. I suppose this is becoming my "old movie playing on a big screen" outfit...I wonder where I'll wear it next!

Around the World in One Outfit!

Good Morning, blog readers! I made sure I was going to post today, and I got up early just for you guys! Well... almost. I'm simply an early riser!

This oufit reminds me of the Earth, for some reason. I looked at it, and all I saw was patterns of land, earth tone colors, and the jeans looked like water. I thought it looked so cool! In addition to it looking like the Earth, two of the three bracelets i'm wearing are from around the world. One of them, which I've worn before, is from Costa Rica, and another is from Russia. The Costa Rica bracelet is made of little wooden disks, while the Russian bracelet is made from Amber sap. So much culture in one outfit!

Workin' Girl, and the Lion King

I apoligize for not posting yesterday! Very busy morning, and didn't get ready in time to blog. But anyways, here are the two outfits for yesterday and today.

Yesterday, I played on matching the colors of black and a skin colored, tan look. I brought this shirt to Europe, and wore it one day because it got too cold to wear a light jacket. I love it, and I thought it would be cool to match with a little more lace. Lots of texture in this outfit.

All Bent Out of Shape

I've been sewing all day today (Don't worry; I'm just doing repairs and alterations!), so I didn't even get completely ready until I realized it was past 2:00 and I should probably take my picture!

I don't think I've worn this hat on the blog before, which is a little strange, because it's my favorite sunhat. I wore it at the beach almost every day in Florida - but I guess I never managed to snap an outfit picture with it! A good friend of mine gave it to me for my birthday last year, and this little hat has been everywhere from Peru to Destin! As a result of its being stuffed in my backpack for two weeks last year, the brim's bent out of shape, but it's still an incredibly trusty hat.

Work, Again

I'm going into work at my mom's shop today, and as per usual, I decided to look a bit more polished than normal. I first wore this shirt/shorts combination at the Heritage Festival in June, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! Normally, I'm not a huge fan of shirts tucked into hip-high shorts, but in this case, I actually like it!

Like Hipsters Do

This is one of those outfits that I've had planned out since the beginning of the year. I've even had the title since New Year's Eve (that's pre-planning for you), and it is SOLELY thanks to the hairstyle. I was watching a video tutorial on New Year's, and the girl mentioned putting an elastic headband around your crown "like hipsters do". For some reason, that struck me as incredibly funny or memorable (obviously, if it's still in my head), and the outfit and the hair and the post and everything just sort of meshed together in my head. So long story short, this outfit is a long time in coming!

Colorless?

I LOVE this shirt. I certainly wish I could wear it more often. I'm a proud Sagittarius, my birthday being December 18th, and I bought this shirt, just to get a casual shirt, right before the year ended. It's so comfy, but also colorless. This outfit has no color to it what so ever! White shirt, Grey accents, Grey skirt, and black shoes? That certainly doesn't mean this outfit isn't lifeless!

Lost at Sea

It kind of amazes me that, even though we're almost 2/3 of the way done with this challenge, I still have things I haven't worn. But, when I think about it, I'm not that surprised. When I wear something, it's fresh on my mind. When a dress is lost in my sea of clothes and I never see it, I almost forget I have it. So I fall into a repeating pattern of clothes, and other pieces I have don't surface very often.

Splattered Colors

Life, and this dress, is like splattered colors. Sometimes you're happy, sometimes your sad. But most of the time, you're both at the same time! The show ended last night, and it was very bittersweet. I enjoyed the experience, but I also was ready to begin another project! This dress, I got at the clothing swap. It has lots and LOTS of colors on it, but it also happens to be my favorite color scheme. Since today's a work day, I still got to wear a dress! Don't you love it when outfits reflect how you feel?

The Lazy Dress

The last time I wore this dress was the day Abbie and I went shopping for our clothes. This is like... one of the most casual dresses that I own. Because of the pattern on the bottom, it can be a little hard to match with, but it's still do-able. Today, I've got TWO shows, not just one, so I won't be wearing this for too long. I'm just glad, since no one will see me in this dress, other than to walk down the street and get coffee in between shows, that I can wear something casual. I kind of miss wearing casual clothes.

Like Rain I Have Fallen

My family's in New Orleans for a day, so we went and walked around the French Quarter this morning. Right before we left the house, it started raining, and by the time we had reached the French Market, the rain had become a downpour. The wind blew so hard that the tents vendors had set up collapsed, and even under the Market roof we were still getting pounded by rain. It stopped long enough for us to walk around the semi-flooded streets, which were absolutely gorgeous in the cloudy weather.

Sunny Summer Smiles :)

Today, its nice and sunny outside! I love the feeling of sun, after a couple weeks of constant rain and flooding. This little dress, I got at the clothing exchange, and its a tad short. Still, I love the summer floral pattern, and it just feels like the dress I should wear today. Today is our second show, so the dress streak continues. The warmth of the sun outside, and the refreshing summer atmosphere, just makes me want to smile, be happy, and wear floral print!

Augustine, Disney, and N'Awlins

I apologize for not posting the last two days! I meant to do Tuesday and Wednesday earlier today, but we're on the road, and my internet connection is shoddy.

On Tuesday, my family went to St. Augustine with our cousins. It's the oldest town in America (about to celebrate its 450th birthday!), and we got to see an old Spanish fort and the oldest schoolhouse in America. I love walking around old towns, so I really enjoyed St. Augustine. If it had been about ten degrees cooler, it would have been perfect! After that, I spent the night at my cousins' house.
Yesterday at around noon, another cousin called and told us that she could give us four free tickets to Disney World. So we randomly went to Disney World yesterday! I hadn't been since I was six or seven, and it was a lot of fun going on all the rides and seeing Cinderella's castle. Even if I'm not one of those people who's obsessed with Disney World, it was still SO exciting!

Today, we're on the road again. Destination: New Orleans.

Summer Consequences

Hello, Readers! Lindy here, and I apoligize for not posting yesterday. I was gone from 9 am, until 11pm, and was extremly tired when I got home.

Yesterday morning, I went with my sister and grandma to this aquatic part about 45 minutes away from the house. I wasn't planning on going, so by the time they were out the door, I had barely put on my swimsuit. What does this mean? I didn't put on sunscreen. We were in the blazing sun for around 3 hours. Yesterday's outfit is literally me walking out the door. Today, you may be able to see my sunburn on my chest. Ahhh the consequences of the summertime.

Also, today is my Opening night for the show I'm in, so I decided to continue with the tradition of wearing a dress to the show!

Today's outfit is Black and Brown, obviously. I don't typically like to match those two colors together, but it seemed to work with this outfit. It's nice and summery, which I love right now, and undeniably cute. Adding the sleeveless cardigan with the dress made it look better than I thought it would be. I'll have to keep that idea in mind for future outfits!

Harry Freakin' Potter

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I was at Universal's Islands of Adventure for fourteen hours, and when I got back to the house at 10:30, I was so tired I just crawled into bed.

Anyhow, one of the two reasons we're visiting Orlando is because Universal is here, and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is at Universal. You only have to know me for ten minutes to figure out that I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan (like, more than is probably healthy and/or normal), so yesterday was basically ONE OF THE BEST DAYS EVER OF MY LIFE. Oooooh my goodness, that park did not disappoint! The rides were amazing and Hogsmeade/Hogwarts was amazing and the food was amazing and the BUTTERBEER. Don't get me started on the butterbeer. Anyway, because I love Harry Potter so much, I shamelessly put on some Potter digs and wore them all day.

I must add that, even though I am a proud Hufflepuff, I wore my Gryffindor tie because I was Harry Potter for Halloween two years ago and already had it. I confused some shopkeepers when I bought a Hufflepuff scarf!

Today, we're hanging out with our cousins (the other reason for coming to Orlando), so I'm just wearing regular old hanging out clothes.

Flashback

This morning, I had origionally worn something I got at the Clothing Exchange. It didn't fit as well as it did a while ago, and my hair kept getting caught in the back. So, I decided to switch things around a little bit.

Back when my old friend Staci had given me a bunch of her clothes, a few pieces I recognized instantly. Some stuff, she wore ALL the time. The shirt I have on is one of those shirts. She wore this to everything. When I wear it, I think of her, and it feels like a flashback. It's weird- wearing your friends clothes they've given to you, and you've seen lots of times.

One of the best things to do in life is express who you are through your clothes. The Camp Rock song is exactly how I feel this morning. This outfit is the epitamy of "Lindy", my crazy personality and ability to mix and match such clothes. This outfit is so dramatic, and quirky. It's so ME. I even added my favorite personal touch, red lips. I wish I could wear it again.  Ahhh the curse of the challenge.

Hello, Orlando!

Part one of my family's vacation is now over. Today, we're driving from Destin to Orlando (Three guesses what we're doing there!). We've been in the car nine hours and watched three episodes of Doctor Who! We stopped at a little rest area for lunch again, which is where these pictures were taken. It's interesting how much of the Florida panhandle looks exactly like east Texas - pines and oaks and squirrels all around with not a palm tree in sight.

Today, I have to go to work again! To wear something nice, I decided on this teal shirt I love, and that I wore about a month ago, to the ACT. Everyone complimented that it was SUCH a cute shirt, and I couldn't wait to wear it again. I thought, since it was nice, I would pull it out for work,  and wear a skirt with it. The skirt is pretty short, so I thought, why not add tights? Low and behold, I realized I had teal tights from the clothing swap. Ohhh yes! This outfit has a LOT of teal in it!

Navy Stripes

I love navy. When Abbie and I went shopping a month and a half ago, I got another cloche hat with a big navy stripe on it. Navy stripes are the "theme" of this outfit, you could say. The shirt has navy stripes on it, the hat has a navy stripe; my shoes are navy too! I love the color, because it has so many ways to wear it! I'm going on a little "date" tonight, and I thought this would be a nice, casual outfit to go to the movies in.

Adventure Time

This morning, I went with my aunt and cousins to drop the boys off at a golf course. Afterwards, we ran around town to have a little girl time. Driving somewhere you're unfamiliar with is always an interesting experience; to get back to the highway, I directed my aunt down a back road I'd gone on with my parents. A minute later, we were completely turned around and ended up driving through a neighborhood for ten minutes. I always find stuff like that fun, though - if you're with people you like, it's not so much getting lost as going on an adventure.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

... Come again when I don't have rehearsal! Hello readers. Lindy here, and I am currently trapped inside my house. The rain has gotten so bad in my part of town, the entire neighborhood is flooded, and no one can get out! We have a creek behind our house that is about to flood, so we are trying to stay warm, and safe.

My outfit was, well, not planned. I hadn't changed yet and thought I would never get around to it, since I may be trapped in the neighborhood and most likely unable to go to rehearsal today. My sister and I went outside to dance in the rain and kill some time, and I was wearing my pajamas. That, my friends, is my outfit for today. Since the rain, apparently, doesn't want to go away, I may as well have a little fun!

I had my swimsuit picture all done, but the women in our family went out to lunch, and my mom suggested NOT wearing a swimsuit for my picture today. We went to a yummy little seafood restaurant (as suggested by the crab) right on the beach, which was gorgeous and so much fun. The traffic here is terrible, but it was nice to go somewhere for a couple of hours.

Butterfly Fly Away

The song sung by Miley Cyrus from the Hannah Montana movie has been stuck in my head ALL DAY. I found it rather appropriate, being that my shirt has a giant butterfly on it! A cool thing to do this time of year is take a patterned tee, or vneck, and pair it with high waisted shorts. Also, notice how I pair colors. A tip to think about is always pairing the right color to match your skintone. I got this shirt as a hand me down, but it looks great with my semi pale skin, red hair, and even better with black accents to go along with it. I want to desperatly get out of the house, because its super rainy, and I have no where to go again until rehearsal. I hope you enjoy this outfit as much as I do!

From Sexy Chic, to Sweet Schoolgirl

Good Morning, Readers! It's Tuesday, and I've got to go in for work, once again.

Today's outfit is somewhat a "school girl" outfit, even though I hate the look of most such outfits. I haven't used this frilly dress since February, and thought it would be nice to bring it out again, even if it isn't quite in season. It's kind of a "sexy" dress, being very tight fitting, but I thought it would be cool to see if we could jazz it up a little differently. So, since I am going to work, I thought, why not a cardigan? and then my black and white keds? I put it on, and thought, I look kind of like I'm going to school! So, here we are. We turned a sexy look into a sweet, but a bit more on the riskayy side,  schoolgirl.

When I bought the dusty rose shorts on our shopping spree back in June, I origionally planned to wear it with this shirt. My thought process was, "Ohh! I love these shorts- they will look great with my pink lace top!". I LOVEEEE this outfit, a lot. I'm sort of sad the only place I have to wear it is rehearsal, but oh well. A girl dresses up when she wants to. This is a great outfit idea for anyone who loves lace as much as I do.

Basically Paradise

Today was our first full day in Florida, and, oh my goodness, I can't believe we have five more days here! I swam in crystal clear water and sat (in my shady, covered tent) and read for a couple of hours. I spent almost all day in my swimsuit with my hair in various states of tangled disarray, and it was WONDEFUL. Who knew there were beaches this pretty in the Gulf of Mexico? I certainly didn't.

Texture Crazy!

For those of you who have been reading this blog forever, you would know I love things with texture of some sort. I love solid, textured clothes. Today, I think I went a little overboard with the texture. In this one outfit, I've got solid chiffon, lace, textured chiffon, and braided textures. The outfit turned out better than I expected, which means, who knows? Textures may become the only thing my outfit has to offer!

Greetings From the Sunshine State!

Today I took off for a big ol' family vacation in Florida, and as I'm writing this we're only about an hour and a half from our destination. I'm really excited! We're going lots of cool places in the next two weeks, and I'll be sure to show you all of them! In typical Abbie fashion, I brought three sunhats, and during our lunch break, I put this one on. It's a hugemongo (and adorable) vintage hat that my mom got from a friend to sell at her antique shop. It was sitting in her study for a few weeks, and every time I passed it I would pick it up and put it on. Finally, she asked me if I wanted it, to which I enthusiastically replied, "Yes!!" This is the first time I've gotten to wear it, but you'll be seeing it a lot this vacation...It's pretty sunny over here in Florida :)

Asymmetrical Saturday

It's Saturday, Friends. And the only thing I have had to do/ something I did this morning, is go to dance. Class was over at 10:30, and now I get to sit home and do "nothing"(which is more like, just doing work at home).

Today's outfit reflects my incredibly relaxed attitude. I thought it was nice to not have to completly "dress up" into something for some reason, and kinda wear whatever. This is a nice summer outfit, just for chilling and doing a lot of relaxing. The shirt is really cool, because it has these ruffles on the side, and I love asymmetrical stuff. Not to mention, the dark purple, though a dark color in our hot summer, looks great with auburn hair!
