Waiting for Fall

I had originally planned to wear this outfit in July, but (obviously) I didn't. Then, I planned on wearing it in August. The end of August drew closer and closer, until finally, with my longing for fall/fall related things growing stronger, I decided to wear it. The outfit's super summery, so it feels a little strange to be wearing it during school - and it's only making me long for fall even more!

Bring Back Paris

Since last night, I've been having SERIOUS Europe withdrawl. My original plan in Paris was to wear an outfit very similar to this (only difference was to add lace tights). The last time I wore this shirt, I wore it with jeans and boots. Thats because my original idea did not work with the cold (or cool) weather I did not expect in the summertime. So now, Im bringing back one of my favorite Paris outfit deas :)

Backwards Day

This outfit is just all sorts of altered: my shirt is actually a dress and the dress is being worn backward. I wasn't originally going to flip the dress, but when I put it on I decided I didn't like the way the front looked. So I put on a tank top, put the dress on backwards, and...voila.

Last Minute Plans

I'm at home, but only for a little while. I work today at 1, so I had to wear something work appropriate today. I was origionally going to wear the tan floral dress from a long time ago, but decided against it at the last minute. Instead, I pulled out some skinny jeans, and a light cami and cardigan combination. Talk about last minute plans!

Stuff Homeschoolers Do

On Saturday, I had a little party for the scouts at my house. I got home from Laura's memorial service not long before my advisor was supposed to show up, so I picked up the nearest shirt and matched it with the nearest tank top and threw it on. This was the result, and I really like the color combination! I've been wearing my Nikes for the majority of the day (because I literally haven't left the house in 48 hours. Oh homeschooing.), but thought these shorts were a nice touch. They look better than Tempos, anyway.

Multi-tasking!

Hello, friends. I'm back at school today, just chilling in the library after my Algebra class. After my next class, Economics, I have to go to work. I had to find something appropriate to wear to school and to work today, so I pulled out a skirt and a nicer-ish shirt. This is my second favorite color combo, next to the colors I wore yesterday. Being as I have to be at two places today, one casual and one nicer, I would say this outfit is pretty successful! :)

All's Quiet On the Homebound Front

It's unusually quiet in our house today. The baby brother has gone off to public school and my dad took my other brother out to Surfside. Hurricane Isaac is brewing up some great waves in the gulf, and they've gone down to surf. The quiet is great for me: I have lots of studying to do, and I couldn't get it done in a noisy house. But all the same, it's a little weird NOT having any brothers making loud noises when I least want it.

(Remember way back in February when I wore this shirt and complained about the puffy sleeves? Well I altered them, so now I can wear the shirt all year long and not be self conscious about having 80s shoulders!)

Back at Home, Browns and Blues

As I have said many times before, my two favorite colors to pair together are brown and blue. I just discovered that these brown shorts have a little tint of a dark turquoise color in them, so I thought, why not add the blue? This is one of my favorite shirts, and I almost used it for my headshots. I love the flowiness of it, and the way it fits is just perfect. Today is the second day of "school", and since I only go to school three days a week, today i'm back at home!

There's A Lot I Am Not Certain Of

There are so many things I could have called this post, but I feel like lyrics from one of my favorite musicals, A Chorus Line, fit today best. This is the first day of my senior year (or, as many of my friends are saying, my last first day of school); the first day of my last year of high school. It's exciting. It's scary. But most importantly, it's here. For those of you who don't know A Chorus Line, the song Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen, Hello Love is a montage about growing up, with all of the quirks and uncertainties that implies. As I enter what is possibly my most important academic year to date, I find that I'm relating to that song more and more.

And to all of you school-aged people out there, happy first (or second or eighth or twelfth) day of school!

... And I Say HELLO!

Hello, World! I'm blogging today from SCHOOL. I know, weird right? No worries, I'm still homeschooled, but part of my senior year is getting some classes out of the way at a local community college, LSC-Cy Fair.

HEY WHATS UP. ABBIE AND I ARE NOW OFFICIALLY SENIORS!

Today's outfit was something I debated on for a long time. I rearranged my closet, so I have lots of cute outfits hanging, and I couldn't decide on which one to wear. I thought this one was a great choice, because I didn't know how cold the rooms were going to be, alas, wearing jeans, and I love my (as Nina calls it) old lady lace. Overall, one class down, and one class to go. I've had a great first day so far. Hello, new friends; Hello new school year!

You Say Goodbye....

You say "yes"
I say "no"
You say "stop"
and I say "Go, Go, Go"
Oh no
You say "goodbye",
and I say "hello, hello, hello"
I don't know why you say "goodbye"
I say "hello"

Today is the official last day of summer. It's so weird, because it flew by SO fast. This entire year has just whizzed by. Unlike many of my friends, my school does not have a dress code, so I am not concerned about wearing tank tops to school, but to celebrate the last day of summer, I wore my one shoulder dress. Because it's a very spring/summery dress, I won't be able to wear it much longer, or at all, after today. I may say "goodbye" to this dress, but I get to say "hello" to many others. I may be saying "goodbye" to summer, but saying "hello" to new school adventures. :)

RIP Laura Botkin

Laura Botkin was my voice teacher, and she recently died in a severe car accident, where she wasn't wearing a seatbelt (lesson, kids. Always wear your seatbelt). Today, two weeks after the accident, I, along with Abbie and Mattie, attended her traditional Episcopalian memorial service. Who said black had to be boring? I spiced up the outfit a bit, by wearing a more risk-ay dress, and some lace tights. Even though memorial services are quite sad, who said my outfit has to be?

BTW, The shoes are new. These are my official "audition" shoes, I'm got for my auditions. I broke them in today. You won't be seeing them too often.

That Flannel

I went to work again today, and wore my plaid flannel shirt as a jacket. Add that to the skinny jeans and Converse and I'm feeling kind of like a Seattleite! (Because obviously, every single resident of Seattle wears plaid flannel.)

Black, Blue, I'll Be Missin' You

Today is quite a bittersweet day. Today is the last day in the past 2 weeks that I am babysitting Nina! I am really sad this time is coming to a close, but it's time for us to go back to school. It's also the last weekday of summer, which is why I'm also thinking this is a bittersweet day. I didn't realize these points until I was thinking about a blog post title, and my outfit matches my theme and mood. Summer, Nina, and white wedges, I'll be missing you.

Out And About and Lookin' Fine!

Nina and I planned to go to the museums today, but that didn't work out. Instead, we went shopping... again!! It was a fun day, because we went to the Montrose area, and stopped at Buffalo Exchange and Taxi Taxi. I thought, since I looked positivly awful yesterday, that it was about time to finally look pretty again:). I love this shirt, and haven't really had the right time to wear it, but now I am excited to debut this shirt!

Freezing Hot

It's really weird to think that I'm wearing jeans when it's this hot outside, but I went to work today. Work is always freezing, and there were moments that (even with the jeans) I wished I had brought a jacket. It was a nice change of pace from the perpetual heat we've been having lately!

"I Look Really Awful!"

I came home today, complaining to my mom that I looked, and felt, really yucky. I have been very worn out lately, and very exausted. My outfit really reflects this, because I'm wearing, for the first time in months, sweat pants. Nina and I sat and watched movies all day, so I didn't need to dress up. I can't wait to get back into school and stuff so I can actually look better than this!

In the Air

A few days ago, I noticed that it was starting to feel like fall, but I passed it off as wishful thinking. Today, however, I can't deny it. It feels like fall. It's still hot (though it's stayed in the 80s/lower 90s today), but the air feels and the sky looks different. It's put me in a really good mood, because I love fall. It's my favorite season, for lots of reasons. I know it's still a month off (and that summer will be going full force for a good time yet!) but I can't help but feel excited. Fall is on the way!

Swimsuit Cover Up

Hello, friends. Sorry for posting later today, but I've been up and going since 6:30 am! Today I went to SCHLITTERBAHN and the beach, again! This time, I put on a LOT of sunscreen. My favorite dress got to be used as a swinsuit cover up today! I never thought of it that way before, but after slipping it on over my swimsuit, it made a perfect cover up.

Traveling

I'm sorry for not updating yesterday, and for not updating until now today! Yesterday, I was at work all day, and then had a youth group event, so I didn't get home until late (and then, of course, my family had to watch Doctor Who. You know how it is.). Today I went up to Nacogdoches to visit one of my very best friends, so this is the first time I've been at a computer!

Babysitter Chic

Hello, blog readers! Monday is in the house, and I got back to my babysitting. Nina and I really wanted a chill day today, so we just chilled around the house, and did some school shopping for her dad's house. I call this outfit "babysitter chic". It is the epitamy of a babysitter's outfit. Old yeans, and a comfy cover up.

Rainy and Blue

Today, I have work. Unfortuanly, this morning on my way there, it was raining. It was raining all night long, and raining when I was driving. I felt blue suited the mood. I can't wait to get rid of these plaid shorts at the end of the year. Have a happy, and not rainy Sunday!

Also, it is to my knowledge that it is no longer raining, and that it is, indeed, very sunny Oh Well! Houston weather, for ya.

Florals

Sorry for updating later than usual! Today has been crazy; I've hardly had five minutes at home until now. I got this adorable dress at the last clothing exchange I went to, and I've been wanting to wear it ever since! It's super flattering and I love the print - I can't seem to get enough of florals!

Rain Suits the Mood

Not gonna lie: I'm pretty much counting today as a sick day. After a rousing, Fear Factor-type lock-in at my church last night, I am incredibly tired. On top of that, I pulled my back and it's painful in an it-hurts-to-walk sort of way, so I've literally spent all day curled up on my parent's bed, watching Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 and drinking coffee.

Like My Grandma Jo :)

The first thing my dad mentioned about this outfit was that I was wearing my Owl Necklace. I didn't know my Grandma Jo very well, but what found out was, that she loved wearing owls. I had no idea, and I've been on an owl streak lately, so I thought that was a cool little fact:)

Good Little Work Dress

This is such a good "throw on" dress. I doesn't need a lot of accessories to look good, which pleases my minimalist soul. It's also apparently a good work dress: I'm working today, and the last time I wore this dress, I was working my other job. Isn't it funny how certain items seem to fall into patterns of where we wear them?

Pinkalicious

Pinkalicious is a childrens book my sister loves. The main character, whose name I do not know (probably something like "Pinky"), always wears pink. Today my outfit is very pink. I'm not babysitting, so I go back to work. The light pink top, with maroon bottoms, which looks pink, is actually put together quite nicely. It's not too overwhelmingly obnoxious, and I finally got to use the maroon skirt for something!

Also, I'd like to say a VERY special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Mom, who always takes my pictures for me, and is the best mom in the whole world:)

My Version of Babysitting: Being VERY Busy.

I have had one HECK of a week. Always being on the go and doing stuff has started to wear me down quite a bit. I am sorry for not posting yesterday, and not posting today's until late, but after ice skating, voice lessons, shopping, eating, and barely getting sleep, I could not post. The two outfits are actually quite warm for summer climates.

Black and White and Striped All Over

It's not very often I wear an all black and white outfit. This might actually be the first time I've done it this year. I love color to much to wear strictly black and white. But, I paired these together and...liked it. It was simple.

My mom handed this skirt down to me, and after a couple of alterations, I have a cute little black skirt that's perfect for summer! It's really light and airy - which is great, because this summer I'm discovering that a lot of my skirts are strictly for cold weather.

Frilly Grunge

Every time I wear this shirt, I feel the need to make it super feminine, because the cut of the shirt is very...well, 80s. (Imagine that!) I love the way it looks with this skirt (even if the skirt's so short I have to wear it waaaay low) - and don't even get me started on the bow. It has little white pearls on it, and when it's paired with the shirt, there's some awesome juxtaposition going on. Fancy and frilly with vintage and grungy...I'll have some more of that!

My Version of Babysitting, Day Two: ITZ Amazing!

Today, Nina and I went to ITZ and the Movie Tavern, to see Step Up Revolution. Both, were very interesting, and definatly lots of fun! I got very sunburned, so I was very happy to be inside for the day! The day was certainly lots of fun!

Little Duck

In the past, I've only ever worn this shirt during the winter. It has an awkward length: too short to be a dress, too long for shorts (As I'm typing this out, I'm realizing that I should have labeled this a tunic, not a shirt), so I only have one or two ways I wear it - and it's always paired with skinny jeans. I decided to try it with shorts, but since it's so long I tied it up in the back like a true child of the 90s. It kind of creates an awkward bump on my back (and is prone to sticking out, Prim style), but since I'm not leaving the house this afternoon...I don't care!

My Version of Babysitting

Hello, I know it's late. Its like... 7, but still. I have been a busy girl! This week I'm taking up a babysitting job, and the girl I babysit is 11 years old, and her name is Nina. She is a DOLL. I love her very very much, and she makes babysitting easy. My version of babysitting, is taking an 11 year old to the beach, and going to Pleasure Pier in Galvy. We had a very fun day! The only thing I wore today was a bathing suit... so I guess thats my picture too.

Zipper Up!

A cool fact about this shirt, is that is a zipper! On the back, there is a zipper, and it zips up and down like the zipper on pants. This is not a typical "Lindy" look, but I thought it was about time I used this shirt. I'm just lucky my hair hasn't gotten caught in the back!

Come Together

If there's one thing I really love experimenting with in my wardrobe, it's color. I love matching weird color combinations, or pretty color combinations, or graphic color combinations. I had planned to wear this outfit back in June at the Heritage Festival (undocumented on the blog), but by the time the event came around, I was too tired to put a belt on and it was too hot for a cardigan. But planning the outfit with my mom was so much fun - we kept stacking things on until I had this adorably matching, "colorblocked" (I deign to use the term) outfit. Purple, teal, and yellow? Yes, please!

Of Hurting Feet and Elephants

I went to a college fair this morning, so I decided to look a little nicer than normal. It didn't really matter what I wore, but on days when I leave the house (and/or see people I know), I figure I might as well look presentable! I probably shouldn't have worn these shoes, though, because after an hour of walking from college booth to college booth, my feet hurt!

On a side note, there was a Hindu wedding taking place at the hotel where the fair was. While my mom and I were driving to the hotel parking garage, there were traffic cops everywhere. When we got a little closer to the cops we saw that, of all things, there was an elephant in the road. All of the wedding guests were standing around petting and admiring it in their gorgeous traditional clothes, so it was quite a sight to see!

That Combination

One of my goals (clothes wise) this year was to figure out that whole "using dresses as shirts and skirts" thing. As I've said before, it's hard to do that with a lot of my dresses because they're empire waisted or have really big/long skirts. I'm still figuring out how to use the combination, but with what I have, this dress is a pretty good one to experiment with! While the dress is still a little full for the skirt, it somehow manages to work, unlike so many of my other dresses!

A Tribute to the French!

When I went to France two months ago, I bought this shirt, and wore it on our first day in London. I LOVE French fashion. This is certainly NOT what french fashion is about, because I look like a total tourist. French fashion is colorblock, tights, and suede heels or booties, all of which I am totally inspired by, but do not have because of this challenge. I'm certainly not doing a tribute to french fashion, I'm creating a tribute to France as a country.

Three Outfits in One Day

I ended up not taking any outfit pictures on my retreat. When you're lounging around a ranch house, watching movies with your friends, who really wants to take an outfit picture? The ranch would have been a gorgeous place to take pictures, but it just didn't happen! As a result, I (or rather, my mother) got to take pictures for three outfits this afternoon!

On Tuesday, we went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I had originally put on a different outfit, but because I'm a girl, I changed my shirt at the last minute.

Shirt - Hand me down
Shorts - Academy
Shoes - Target

I've had this shirt since fourth or fifth grade, and, in my humble opinion, it's pretty awesome. (And on the plus side, Potter Puppet Pals is no longer allowed to make them because of copyright infringement, so this shirt is also a dying breed.) Unfortunately, because it's a child's shirt, it's short on me, and I'm really picky about shirt lengths. But it goes with these shorts really well, so I have a grand total of one way to wear it!

(Look at that adorable pug.)

The Right Season

It's so funny. When I look at this dress, it's certainly a summer dress. But in this challenge, this is the only time i've worn it in its correct season! Funny how things dissapear in your closet for a while, only to be discovered once again. I don't love the dress, but it's a nice, flowy frock, and it certainly needs to be worn.

Happy Tuesday! This morning, I went and got my headshots done. I had to wear lots of different outfits and lots of looks for the shoot, and when I got home, I changed into something more comfy. This is the outfit after all the pictures.

P.S. Maybe when I get them, I'll post a pic or two!
